Swimming Leagues
The Midlands District of Scottish swimming organises the Tayside Leagues within this area to give all affiliated clubs the opportunity to enter teams into a competitive environment. The current league structure consists of:
Premier League 1st Division 2nd Division 3rd Division
Each league has 5 teams. At the end of each calendar year the team at the top of each league is promoted and the team at the bottom is relegated to the league below.
The club has had a team in the leagues for several years. In 2005 it finished in 2nd place in the 1 Division.
The Final positions were Forfar Falcons 25pts Menzieshill Whitehall 17pts Blairgowrie Dolphins 12pts Perth City 11pts Kinross Otters 10pts
With an increasing club membership, an application was made in late 2004 to enter a second team in the league structure. This was successful and resulted in our second team competing for the first time in the 3rd Division galas in 2005. (League rules state that all new teams accepted into the league structure must start in the 3rd division.)
Team selection is made on ability for each stoke in each age group. Swimmers who have been selected are notified approx. 2 weeks before each gala date.
The club organises buses to all out of town galas. Swimmers are encouraged to travel in the team coach as this gives the coaches an opportunity to outline to the swimmers their plan for the gala and also saves the coaches from any nasty surprises when swimmers who said that their Dad who take them by car, have not turned up 5 minutes before the gala is due to start a charge of £2 is made per person to offset the cost of the coach hire. All team buses leave from Menzieshill High School
