Menzieshill Whitehall was formed in January 2003 from the merger of one of the oldest and the youngest swimming clubs in Dundee. Whitehall Swimming club was formed in 1887 by two solicitors, Wm Kidd and J Mckay, who conducted their business from an office in Whitehall Street - hence the name of the club. Menzieshill Swimming and Water polo Club was formed within the School by Frank Jordan, a Physical Training assistant in the 197O’s and the club affiliated to the SASA (Midlands District) in 1983.
The new merged Club caters for all abilities of swimmers in the age group 5 - 25 starting from “Learn to swim” sessions for complete beginners up to senior swimmers being coached for national competition. Training sessions are held at three different venues throughout the city so there is bound to be one near you. The Club’s swimming team currently competes in the 1st division of the Tayside Leagues.
The Water Polo section has produced many fine players over the past years with several members playing at international level. More recently, in 2002, the ‘senior ladies’ team won the Scottish National League championship.
Our coaches encourage all swimmers to reach their highest potential with many of our swimmers participating at competitive levels. However, paramount to each training session is that the swimmer experiences an atmosphere of friendliness and fun.
We have 16 qualified coaches/teachers all of whom are trained to the relevant national standards.
